A Day In The Park

When summer began I took Gabby to the park, she took turns going down the slide with another little girl until..... the little girl which was only a year older then her attempted to talk to her. Gabby had such a meltdown we had to leave.......

Today we went back to the park!!!!

As soon as we got there... Gabby ran right to play. She let me push her on the swings, then ran to play on the play escape..

She followed right behind her big sister Allie

Scared to try on her own

But Allie convinced her to sit on her lap

She really wanted to try it on her own, but never gained the courage.

After this she needed a few minutes and hid her face....

After a few minutes.... Gabby became a little over whelmed and just paced back and fourth , back and fourth, back and fourth!!!!!

I was able to get her to stop and smile for the camera
(but you can still kinda see the uneasiness in her face)

Next the girls wanted to play in the sandbox. Here Gabby is watching the other kids. I knew she wanted to play with them. But, instead she just glared at them the whole time. Even when a little girl approached her and started talking to her.... Gabby just glared at her and would not respond.

She felt most comfortable when people moved away and played outside of the house in the large sand box

Actually she was elated they left!!!!!!!!

Except for when she realized sand falls on you when you throw it!
After a few mins of cleaning her self off..

She came out to watch her sister built a sand castle. After knocking it down a half dozen times on her..

she went back in the house to build her own!

I am beyond excited... there weren't any meltdowns at the park today!!!!!!
I see her making progress. I know she wants to interact with the other kids... but sometimes it's still just a little to overwhelming for her to do.....
